In the article today we will explore together the process of creating ads, different types of digital advertising techniques and the right way to use it.
Does it sound exciting to you? Let’s roll in
Search Engine Marketing
Search Engine Marketing ( SEM ) is one of the most effective ways in digital marketing to grow your business that includes PPC or Pay Per Click advertisements.
With PPC ads you can create the customized ads, set your budgets and analyze the data as your ads are up and running.
There are 2 types of ads with PPC that you can run on a search engine like Google or Bing which are search ads and display ads.
Search ads will show up when the user types the keywords into the search engines. These ads are really powerful as they show up when your target customers search for a specific keyword.
If this is the first time you heard about the term of PPC ads, here is an example for you to easy to understand:
Helen is looking for an accounting service in Ho Chi Minh city since she was planning to open her company and looking for an accounting service in town. She turns on her phone to access Google and types in a phrase like “accounting service Ho Chi Minh”. When Helen presses enter a list of accounting services will appear. The first four and the last three will be advertisements.
The position of your ads depends on the bid each company places on the keyword as well as a quality score from Google. A high-quality score indicates that your ad is more relevant meaning that you have a better chance of ranking higher.
What is the difference between display ads and search advertising?
Display ads are the ads that show up when you are accessing another website. The potential customers who see display ads are being targeted after searching for a product/service or just happen to land on a website that contains display ads.
The purpose of using display ads is that you will be marketing to people who don’t know about your brand and what you do is focus on building brand awareness
But while these are huge numbers, it does not make sure that you will see conversions from your display ads. You should also notice that there are several different sizes for display ads. So we recommend you do some split testing to see which ad gets the most conversions.
For instance, you are looking for the new bicycle on Google and the display ads will show up. That is what you actually need, photos with prices and website information. Similar to other types of digital advertising, the text that reads “sponsored” in the right corner tells you that these are paid ads.
Your bicycles don’t have to be the best one in town but if your bicycles show as number one then the buyers will likely gain the trust in your product just because you are in the first spot.
Search Engine Advertising
As the business owner, there are a few different types of digital advertising campaigns you should be running.
Every social media platform has their own advertising section to support you for campaign advertising from YouTube, Linked In, Pinterest to Snapchat, Tiktok.. you can easily run ads, generate leads, drive sales on those platforms.
All of these platforms are great but today we are going to talk about the two most popular social media platforms to advertise: Facebook and Instagram.
On Facebook, you can create ads using Facebook’s Ads Manager to integrate these same ads on Instagram. If you want to increase your brand’s visibility, target specific demographics or even customers’ interests.. Facebook is the best option. Depending on the goals of your business, there are some different types of advertisements you can apply on. Facebook ads easily integrate into users’ feeds and the fact that you may be unaware of how many ads you are seeing on social media daily.
Similar to Facebook, Instagram ads also integrate directly with the user. The ads look exactly like a normal post so if you have an engagement post the user won’t know the difference and if your post is creating engagement with the customers, your leads will increase as well.
One thing to remember is that Instagram is a mobile platform, because of that your ads will only be displayed to mobile users. There is a desktop version of Instagram but the advertisements will not be shown to desktop users.
This is where Facebook advertising has an advantage compared to Instagram advertising. So what advertising platform should you use for your campaign: Instagram or Facebook?
The truth is, since you can create Instagram ads from your Facebook ads in Facebook’s ad editor, you can use both!
Before starting your campaign, spend time doing market research to see where your potential customers are spending their time and which social media platforms they prefer.
Remarketing/Retargeting Advertising
Have you ever wondered how the internet knows you are planning or interested in buying something? The new iPhone 12 from Amazon just keeps showing up every time you are opening the new web page or scroll down the feeds of Facebook, Instagram.
In digital marketing, we call it remarketing or retargeting. Once a user shows interest in a product/service you can record the data and apply it for your marketing.
It is popular in many businesses nowadays when they market to their target customers through email marketing, social media or either search engine marketing.
When the customers see their interesting product/service show up on their social platforms, it obviously they think that it can be a sign that they should make a purchase and then boom, you get a new buyer. If you retarget both on email marketing and social media, the higher chance your target customer won’t miss your ads.
You can also offer a discount for a product that a customer has already viewed. This can be done in the form of a social media ad or an email or both! The more retargeting or remarketing you can make the better results will come. If your customers see products/services that they have viewed in every possible place, they will eventually make their way back to your site for purchase.
